Meet the Long Beach Forward team

Nubia Flores Cendeño

Nubia Flores Cedeño (she/her/hers) leads and coordinates efforts to strengthen and expand the organization’s parent organizing work, which emerged from the priorities of the Building Healthy Communities initiative in Long Beach. Additionally, supports Long Beach Forward’s parent-organizing work that centers low-income parents and caregivers of color.

Nubia lives in Long Beach and is an LBUSD special education parent. Her community work has focused on helping to advocate for families with children with disabilities by organizing parents and community stakeholders to help push for inclusion, equity and accessibility. Nubia enjoys spending her time reading, running/walking in her neighborhood of North Long Beach, gardening, cooking with her son, and watching movies… a lot of movies. Nubia is a proud graduate of UC Santa Barbara and holds a B.A in Political Science & Film & Media Studies.

Race and income do not determine one's future in Long Beach—it's a community where everyone is safe, connected, and healthy.

To create a healthy Long Beach with low-income communities of color by building community knowledge, leadership, and power.
