Meet the Long Beach Forward team
Michael (he/him/his) serves as the Program Assistant supporting parent organizing in the Best Start Central Long Beach and Building Healthy Communities: Long Beach initiatives hosted by Long Beach Forward. As a first generation American, he understands the value that community advocacy can add to low income communities of color. Michael is the descendant of political activists starting with his grandmother who made music for Biafran rebels fighting for their freedom during the Nigerian Civil War and his mother who protested against the British government for cutting critical funding for low income children.
Previously, Michael worked as the Program Coordinator for Tools for Tolerance for Law Enforcement, a nonprofit organization based in Beverly Hills dedicated to connecting law enforcement more effective ways to serve the community.
