Meet the Long Beach Forward team

Jose Beltran

Jose (he/him/his) serves as the Early Childhood Program Manager at Long Beach Forward. He is a proud first generation immigrant from Zacatecas, Mexico. During his time as an AB 540 student at California State University, Los Angeles, he organized to develop resources for undocumented youth and for the creation of the Dream Resource Center at CSULA. He also advocated with other undocumented youth, pushing for the creation of the nationally debated and life changing DACA program.

While Jose holds a background in Education and a minor in Latin American Studies, he joined the labor movement after graduating. He has worked with the SEIU-USWW, the United Steelworkers International Union and facilitated trainings with the AFL-CIO Organizing Institute. His most recent involvement has been with community programs created by the Los Angeles Neighborhood Land Trust and The Los Angeles Trust for Children’s Health.

Race and income do not determine one's future in Long Beach—it's a community where everyone is safe, connected, and healthy.

To create a healthy Long Beach with low-income communities of color by building community knowledge, leadership, and power.
