Meet the Long Beach Forward team

Valentina Flores

She/her/hers, I am an Organizing Fellow for Best Start Central Long Beach at Long Beach Forward. I started my way into social change my senior year at California State University, Long Beach and took an internship with LB Froward my last semester. Once I graduated and my internship was over I continued as an employee for LB Forward. I have a Bachelors from California State University, Long Beach in Sociology with a focus on Social Control and Racial Justice.

Over the Summer of 2020 I organized a group of young adults to come together in my Hometown of Culver City to protest against the murder of George Floyd and stand in solidarity with the BLM movement and the protest against police brutality along with the rest of the world. My goal is working towards creating change in all parts of society to make sure that issues like race, class, gender and more do not create unnecessary obstacles for people of color.

Before working in Social Justice groups I made my way through the fashion industry and became a professional makeup artist and still se my skills today as a freelance artist.

OUR VISION

Race and income do not determine one's future in Long Beach—it's a community where everyone is safe, connected, and healthy.

OUR MISSION

To create a healthy Long Beach with low-income communities of color by building community knowledge, leadership, and power.
