What We Do

Best Start Central Long Beach

Building off of our experiences as the support organization for The California Endowment’s Building Healthy Communities initiative in Long Beach, in early 2018 Long Beach Forward was selected to provide support to Best Start Central Long Beach. The support we provide includes coordination of meetings and events, facilitation, education, leadership development, communications, outreach, evaluation, and more.

An initiative of First 5 LA, Best Start Central Long Beach is working to create the best possible community for young children and their families. Best Start brings together parents, community organizations, institutions, and others to improve policies and resources to better support parents and create a community where children and families can thrive. Best Start also provides the skills-building and leadership training to help the group achieve its goals and ensure that children are safe, healthy, and ready to learn.

Partnership Meeting

Members of the community are invited to join the monthly Partnership Meeting to find a space to contribute to this movement. Food, translation in Spanish and Khmer, childcare, and transportation assistance are available.

Members of the Partnership report feeling their participation as “meaningful” and a “reminder that it is possible to change our community.” It’s also a space to make connections to others with similar experiences and learn about resources in the community,

Join us at the monthly Partnership Meeting:

Third Thursday of each month

5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Please contact Andrew Mandujano at andrew@lbforward.org or 562-912-7366 to confirm the meeting location and if you need childcare or transportation assistance
